A Final Notice Letter is
sent giving the debtor seven days to respond to us.
-
If no response is received within seven days
we communicate telephonically in order to get a payment
commitment from the debtor.
-
If the debtor has left their home or workplace
we attempt to trace.
-
If the debtor advises that he / she cannot
afford to pay we ask that they provide us with proof of income
and expenses and we revert to our client for their instruction
if it appears that the debtor is not in a position to pay.
(We have had numerous instances where the debtors plead poverty
but have all the home comforts eg M-Net, up-market vehicles etc.)
-
If there is no response to our letter
of demand and there are no telephone numbers, or if the debtor refuses to
pay, their information is submitted to the credit bureau.
-
Once we have made contact with the debtor
a payment plan is put in place. We instruct our debtors to fax
us a copy of their deposit slip as proof of payment in order to
ensure correct allocation of the payment.
-
If we establish that a debtor who refuses
to pay is worth litigation we advise our client accordingly and
only proceed with legal action if agreed upon.
